Hastings residents love the glorious river views along the Aqueduct Trail, a local treasure for the hundreds of people who walk, bike, and run along it daily.
On March 23, the Hastings Zoning Board is poised to greenlight the plans of Zero Nodine LLC, the developer of six luxury townhouses directly adjacent to the trail and west of it, to build above the Aqueduct Trail. Their originally approved height was one foot below the Aqueduct. If the Zoning Board permits this change, the 125-foot-long building — which spans the panoramic image above — would forever block some of our best river views and create a precedent for other developers to do the same.
We cannot allow these precious river views to be taken away from the public and bestowed upon a single developer!
What can you do to voice your opposition?
-EMAIL both the Hastings Zoning Board (zoningboard@hastingsgov.org) and the Village Trustees (boardoftrustees@hastingsgov.org) to voice your opposition to Zero Nodine’s proposed new height plans before March 23.
-JOIN your neighbors at Hastings Village Hall at 7 pm on March 23 to speak out against a development that will permanently alter the character of Hastings.
-SIGN UP for future emails here.
If you would like to send a letter of opposition to Zero Nodine LLC’s plans, feel free to use or embellish this script:
Dear Members of the Zoning Board and Village Trustees:
The Aqueduct Trail’s many views of the Hudson River and Palisades are a precious natural resource for Hastings residents and the hundreds of people who use the trail. Please protect our river views for the sake of our village and everyone who uses the trail — do not give them away to a single developer.
In reviewing Zero Nodine’s application, please stick to the original height the Zoning Board already approved, and say no to Zero Nodine’s request to build above the trail.
Here's the email I just sent:

Dear Members of the Zoning Board and Village Trustees,
I am writing to urge you to REJECT the application by Zero Nodine to increase the height of their townhouse development on Nodine St. in order to protect the views of the Hudson River and Palisades from the Old Croton Aquaduct trail. These river views are a precious public good that should not be sold off at profit to the future owners of luxury apartments/townhouses!
This is a somewhat personal matter for me: I used to live at 384 Warburton Avenue, one of the buildings immediately in front of the new development site (and one of the few residential rental properties in Hastings), and enjoy revisiting the spectacular views from my old apartment on my daily walks along the Old Croton Aqueduct trail:

When reviewing Zero Nodine’s application, please REJECT the request to increase the height of the Nodine St. development.
With kind regards,
Tony Gill
